A boycott of Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is still in effect, despite rumours that Johnny Depp will not star in any future films.
Craig Mazin, the creator of The Last of Us, reportedly previewed a “strange” scenario he wrote for Pirates of the Caribbean 6.
Following the end of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Mazin stated that the project could be moving forward with the script he wrote.
Mazin’s statement made no mention of Johnny Depp, who had previously been announced as not appearing in the picture.
Prior to his defamation battle with ex-wife Amber Heard, Depp was expected to reprise his role as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel. Depp has now stated that he was sacked from Pirates of the Caribbean 6, despite the fact that Heard was found guilty in the trial. Since then, Disney has made no assertions to the contrary, and with Mazin’s update, it appears like Pirates of the Caribbean 6 will go on without Depp.
